Is High Education Worth the Price?

Does education provide us beneficial benefits for a successful life? In reality, it depends on you as a person based on what you are striving to learn or seek from college. Students who believe college provides good experience and are worthwhile to obtain their careers such as doctors anything that is required to progress it will be understandable. At a young age from 17 to 18 years old are required to go to college because it is expected they do so. Sadly, the majority of students beginning in college still do not know what they want to do with their lives. Why go to college and accept loans or pay debt on something you still need time to think about. Below will be provided a video where it explains more depth towards college.

While reading the articles it has proven to me that even if students graduate in college sometimes they may not seek what they've been waiting for. Graduate students working as a full time career job has given them challenges and upcoming circumstances of responsibility. One of the articles discusses an example of a regular day as a graduate student obtaining their career with hard work and excess hours staying in work. By the end of the day we can relate within our community where we go to errands such as shopping and waiting in a long line. The hunger, tiredness, and desire to be home is something that should be concerning because maybe the career doesn't mean something towards you. The freedom of choosing their own education and getting well-adjusted is important to be discussed.

Furthermore, making the realization that college is not providing to engage students to go to college. Students believe they need to go to college because it's a huge expectation and obligation to look good for the public and their families. But, what is actually the purpose of the students being there? Colleges need to provide excellent professors to guide them to success and passing well. Not easy lectures ,but as challenging and learning as possible. Watching the film discuss how professors are meeting up with students' needs as consumers on being “good professors” giving less work. Students' academic achievement should not stand on their own opinion ,but rather to prepare them for the future by letting them use their minds to be challenged. In fact the film stated that 44% fail to graduate in 6 years. There are probably so many distractions that are not important to include within the university such as pools, sport activities, art, and anything that is not an inconvenience that will help you in future life. The reason why students do not focus on their learning is because there is partying within the campus and it is allowed.

Sadly, even if the students graduated from college they will get their careers. There are people out there who do not have a career despite having a degree. Is college worth it? It all depends on the type of career and how the students are engaging in their own careers.

  1. Isabel,
You give good food for thought about college, and about not rushing into to such a huge decision without a career goal in mind.

Is Pop Culture Good For You?

Let's begin to ask our audience if pop culture is good for us. Well it is definitely because pop culture is an idea that we create in movies, memes, viral videos that show awareness, short films, and in music that captivate us the audience where we can relate in a sense of humor and common interest. Pop culture is important in society because it takes us into a place where people can bring happiness to the world by making us dream and smile. Able to connect with the world positively despite the real occurrences that are happening in the real world such as dividing our differences in politics, religion, social issues, cultural values and beliefs. We need to cherish pop culture because it can eliminate the negative impacts on issues that have been created within our society. Where we can put a common ground to have a sense of laughter and joy in order to set aside the seriousness that actually divides us as humans.  Such as in the music industry can be related to ...

Literacy History Blog - Assignment 1

Hi, my name is Isabel Anaya and I am majoring in Mathematics and Secondary Education. I have been attending NJCU since fall 2018. The reason why I decided to major in teaching is to encourage young students to do well in school and prepare them for the future. I want to be a teacher who supports, guides, and helps students no matter academic level, linguistic languages and cultural backgrounds. As an educator I want my students to feel comfortable and welcoming in class. I am currently working as a substitute teacher teaching English Language Arts (ELA) to my middle schoolers. I hope by taking this class I can improve my literacy skills based on reading, writing, and critical thinking in order to conduct a better lesson plan for my students.           My earliest experience of becoming literate began at home. Coming from an immigrant family I was raised to speak in Spanish. My m...
